Shakubuji Temple
About 1300 years ago, in 651, this temple was founded by an Indian priest. Though only three temples are remaining now, about 70 temples and priest houses were built on the gentle hill of the mountains' foot. It had a power and is said to distribute Lotus Sutra prints all over Japan. At the age of civil strife about 500 years ago, its power was weakened by revolts and subjugations, and strengthened again afterward. The Three-storied pagoda and Yakushido building are registered national important cultural properties.
